Types of Windows

Below are the three main types of windows. Please read about them below and then make your selection.

Casement Windows

This is the sort of window most people will have in their property. The hinge is fixed to either the left/right or top of the window frame. The handle is on the opposite side to the hinge and the opening sash pushes outward from the frame.

Tilt & Turn Windows

This window does exactly what its name suggests. The first action is to tilt into the property from the bottom of the sash. If you then close the window and turn the handle into an upright position, the window opens inwards from the side of the frame.

Vertical Sliding Windows

Mainly found in period properties but now becoming more popular, the vertical sliding sash moves up & down. It tilts inwards to make cleaning the outside pane easier. The vertical sliding sash can be specified with or without period features.
